7 Steps That Will Change Your Life: One Foot Forward
Don’t give fears and hesitations the energy in your body or the space in your head. Put your blinders on and keep your focus on your plan and your dream. Keep your eyes on the prize ahead of you at the finish line when your dream is no longer just a dream.
First steps to taking actionThe first thing in starting to take action is you have to actually do something to move forward. You can write all the lists and make all the plans, but unless you actually start taking steps, even baby steps towards your dream, you will never get where you want to be. God has a plan and a purpose for you, (Jeremiah 29:11). And his timing is always right and on time! Even if you missed the boat in your past, you missed all the opportunities that he has given you in the past to make your dreams a reality, it's not too late! God has a way of taking all those missed opportunities that he gave us and some how making them the right time again, often times after we have gone through some "fires" in our lives that have molded us and made us ready to try again. That's called grace. We don't deserve second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth or 100 chances to get this life thing right. But God loves us so much more than we deserve and he knows that we are not perfect, that we want to give us all the opportunities we deserve.
Overcoming Fears & Hesitations
The next big step in putting one foot forward is learning to turn off the naysayers in your life, even if that means YOU. You are your own biggest cheerleader, but you are also you're own biggest critic. In step number two, we talked a lot about what you think about you bring about and how your own thoughts and actions play a huge role in this whole process. But for this section, overcoming fears and hesitations, we are going to talk about how to put "what you think about, you bring about" into action.
When I was making the plans towards my dream of moving to Las Vegas to start a new life, I had SO MANY fears and hesitations like, “What if I get out there and don't like it?” or “What if I fail?” or “What if I can't make it on my own?”, "What if I don't know what do with my life when I get there?", "What if things aren't what I expect?". And you know what? It's been nearly two years now since I moved out here and at one time or another everyone of those fears and hesitations happened. I knew when I came out here that going back to the place and situation I came from was NOT an option. So what did I do? I put on my big girl panties, worked my way through each thing and figured it out. Because I had enough good, solid "Why's" in my back pocket that I had written down from step three, I was able to say in most of these situations, "Thank goodness this isn't the only reason I came here!"
Fine Tuning Your Plan
1. Make a list of everything that has kept you from achieving this goal in the past and what is keeping you from achieving it now.
2. Pray and ask God to give you courage to face your fears, the ability to move forward and do the thing his is calling you to do and the wisdom to know you are going in the right direction.
3. Start making a list of all the things you can do and control on your journey. Write down ways that you can overcome your own fears and hesitations.
